Continued...
I have decided that i will keep posting my pictures and i would appriciate feedback. I want to keep improving as a photographer, and i think that this is the simplest way. I will post in installments, and it will be awesome. Look ahead, and i will post a SUN VALLEY edition, which gives me an excuse to get away from family. =).

Odd Man Out
I thought of a photo project idea for next spring! I call it odd man out. I was inspired by the photographer Abbas, ho is very good at capturing pattern, (see images below) and i had a brainstrom. I thought, what if we stuck a black cloak among all of the white robes. I think that would have made the image more interesting, and then i cam upon the project idea: I will take pictures of things that dont belong. Like, a sea of white eggs and then a brown one, or a lot of white cars and then a red one. YAY! i think that it is awesome. I have a while to brainstorm for ideas and such, and it will be awesome. I probably will think of like 20 more ideas by the time spring term rolls around, but this is number one on my list.

Even more of "New photographers! Well, sort of..."
Another Photographer! this one is paul strand. I like him.
This is a very famous photograph. i know that it is porch shadows, but i dont know what they are cast on. I like the fact that there is really only one color, and they shadows make it two colors. Yay light!

I like how balanced this image is. The cables balance, and the arch balances. And there is a patten with the cables.

Well, i was trying to find new photographers and i started to think back on printer names. Josef Koudelka came to mind first, so i googled him first. He is a god! not the god, just a god. My favorite book of his is called "chaos". It is alot of images that are very rectangular, and usually of some pattern that breaks the image into sections.
I like how chaotic this image it is. It divides the image up into little pieces, and makes it more interesting, and even though it is chaotic, the concept is still simple.

This is my third favorite of this book. I adore the little white dots, that draw the eye away from the center of the image. They are like leading lines, except they are dots, not lines.

This one is in Athens, at the temple of Zeus. Again, divided, yet the image comes together as one image.

This one is in germany. This is my second favorite of his book. The snow adds contrast to the stairs, and the leading lines are awesome! And the figure ground relationship is amazing. Again, the snow brings out the differences in the steps.

Chos, yet together, the stairs and the bannister break the image apart and heal it back together.

This one is my Favorite! I think that this was Koudelka's favorite too, as it was the cover of the book. The water makes such an interesting contrasting, and the rocks jag into the sky, and they almost make a city-scape, but not. It is awesome! and i like the concept of this photoproject, and i will try and bring that to spring term.

New photographers! Well, sort of...
These images are by Andre Kertez. I discovered hi because my enlarger last year was named Andre kertez. He has a book called distortion also, except some of the material is inappropriate.

The stairs are so deliciouly simple, yet they remain itriguing and the lighting is SPECTACULAR! After you look at the stairs and then the flowers, you start to notice that there is a hat and jacket behind them. It makes me want to know more about the house that this was taken in, and why there are flowers on the table. Decoration? Funeral? It piques my curiosity.

The fork and the plate. Everyone knows that they go together like peanut butter and jelly, yet he takes that simple concept, and makes it interesting with amazing lighting and very excellent focus. This is a perfect example of simplicity, yet interesting.

I like the off angle-ness of the camera, and the echo shadows. Andre kertez is very good at lighting and shadows, and he succeds alot.

More Pics that i LOVE

I like how strange this picture is. The first impression is "why on earth are there things hanging from the photograph?" I think that they are clothes, but i am not entirely sure why they are just hanging there. I likw is also, because even though it is whacky, it is also kind of soothing.

I love the pattern in this one. They are all the same, yet each of them are doing something different. The leading lines are awesome, because they are at a slant, instead of up and down or side to side.

This is the same man as before. I can tell, because it is the same sort of pattern. all the same, yet different. Then there is the one man in front, that is compleatly out of place. I am not as crazy about the figure-ground relationship, but i like the concept.

The reason why i like this is becasue it an action shot. Is almost too busy, but it is simple in design. Building falling down, hose spraying the fire. The only thing that bothers me is the building in the top right. It drives me slightly insane.

I am amazed at the figure ground relationship astouunds me in this photograph. it is almost not belivable, but is it just close enough to fool me.
I like the emotion that is conveyed in this. I instantly feel lonely/sad. I would like to think that it is her real emotion, but i cannot tell if it was staged. Regardless, i like the composition and the way she makes me feel sad. She got her alcahol, and she is by herself. Como can you say, Alone?
Printed

These are the picture that i printed. My favorite, bar none, it the bottom image. It is Albino asparagus. I like how it has pattern, but it isnt compleatly symmetrical, and not straight lines. I love how the light reflects of of the juicy asparagus, i didnt even know asparagus' were juicy! It has depth, but it is still on a flat surface. I love this image! Also, the one above it, that was the first time i came up with the idea to shine light through the image. I pupousfully made it a little blurry, i like it that way because it is supposed to make you feel kind of cozy, well that is how i feel at any rate. Another one i truly enjoy is the cabbage piled on itself. It is simple, yet interesting, and i wish i had given it a spritz of water, to make it more interesting. I also relly like my tomato. The light refecting, and the off-centered-ness of the slice. Yay! The rest, i like alot, but some of the ones that i did not print are better than the ones i did print, but i still like the images. I would fight to the death for the two previously mentioned cabbages, and the asparagus, but the others i would replace with ones that i shot later in life. This Project was top 3 assignments ever. I owe something (hopefully repaid by cupcakes) to slade for giving me this idea. I ran with it. I looked forward to shooting. One saturday i got up at 6:00 AM!! to photograph, and the funny thing is i did not mind in the slightest. Because i loved this assinment so so much, it was really easy for me to be creative, and enthusiasm travels a long way. That is probably the biggest thing i learned this term. I noticed that when i had some sort of personal stake in the assignment, the pictures were much much much better. EXAMPLE: numbers vs. Portraits. For numbers i was very reluctant to start, and i was coming off of summer, and i was unsure if i liek you, Mr. Slade, or not. Portraits, i was determined to capture the true person. That is still one of my favorite pictures i have ever taken. It was truly my models pesonality, all because i liked the assignment. The same applies to my fruit. I started to have names for my fruit that i took to pictures of. The small cabbage was Mufasa, the green cabbage was william of orange, and the grapefruit was lothar. It was a personal claim to the assignment is what made it so good.
